President Obama and the leaders of Europe have all called for a return to democracy. Yes, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was elected, but he has increasingly restricted freedoms -- with barely a peep of protest from the West.
So when Obama and company call for a return to democracy, it's more like a return to the leader who is turning into a dictator.
Contrast that to the coup that has been under way for years in Greece.
It's not a coup engineered by any Greek strongman lusting for control, or by either the native right or left.
No, it's a coup managed by the rightfully sinister sounding "Troika" -- the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund -- which has forced austerity measures on Greece against massive popular resistance.
Where is the righteous indignation about this coup?
You can still hear the crickets chirping.
