But "Good" still causes me to shake my head with disbelief.
"At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And at three o'clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani" which is translated, "My God, my God, why have your forsaken me?"
Then again, what can you expect from people who claim to be followers of a man who gave his life for their salvation, yet who have used his sacrifice to justify everything from the creation of antisemitism (and what that bore out) to the continuance today of endless war that kills untold -- and ignored -- innocents every day.
Increasingly, I find Easter a time to mourn not only the death of Jesus, but more so the carnage done by so-called Christians in his name.
Compared to that, Easter bunnies and colored eggs are a harmless distraction.
What would Jesus do?
I don't think he would "thank them for their service."
Or all the other mindless rah-rahs that support what is an even more evil version of the Roman Empire.
Oh well, Happy Easter!
