Bret Stephens, who won a Pulitzer with the WSJ, is a very conservative columnist for The New York Times. One of his first columns, about climate change, drew a tsunami of outrage directed at the Times for hiring him. I don't read him much, but I couldn't resist clicking on his latest column.
Nothing deceptive about it all. A very conservative columnist is calling for a flat-out repeal of the Second Amendment.
Among his points is one predicting that the court will become even more hard-line on the amendment, eventually necessitating a true repeal effort.
As he notes, it wasn't but just a few years ago that nobody would have predicted same-sex marriage would not only be legal, but fine with a large majority of Americans.
I hope this gives you some hope.
