Another day, another devastating setback from Neil Gorsuch and the rest of the Supreme Court.
Racist gerrymandering and other forms of voter suppression: Upheld.
A right to discriminate against gays on a bogus religious/freedom-of-speech claim: Upheld.
Banning immigrants based solely on their religion: Upheld.
And today? A ruling that will kill public-employee unions.
You gutless coward.
Gorsuch, of course, got on the Supreme Court because Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Republican lemmings in the Senate refused to allow consideration of Obama's choice for the empty seat.
Wouldn't even vote on it.
Obama -- along with Hillary Clinton and the rest of the chickens passing for Democrats -- wouldn't even fight for their nominee, Garland Merrick -- a moderate at best and by no means whatsoever a liberal.
(And now comes word that Justice Kennedy is retiring, giving Trump another appointee who will turn the court into a body that will likely make abortion illegal and return the country to before the Dred Scott case.
Not directly, but a history of fighting for core liberal principles could have energized the 2016 Democrats enough to have taken the Electoral College. But instead, we got stuck with a nominee who turned off liberals when she hijacked the process from Bernie Sanders and Obama's lack of backbone.)
Fighting for what you claim to believe in?
Well, that's a little inconvenient and messy for Obama.
The Arrogant One thought that was beneath him.
When the country needed a president who would roll up his sleeves and fight for such things as gun control, immigration reform, an end to police brutality, a halt to our criminal wars or even his "legacy" of ObamaCare, the former president just ran away.
So what if you lose.
Fighting the good fight is the right thing to do.
It can inspire enough people to turn the tide -- if not immediately, then later.
But Obama is afraid of conflict.
Yes, he's very intelligent, a first-class intellectual, eloquent and, of course, handsome and fashionable.
But bravery or courage are just not in his arsenal.
He's off to Hollywood, carried aloft on the shoulders of hordes of sycophants.
The rest of us are stuck with the reality created by Obama's craven surrender.
